This project involves the refurbishment and conversion of the Grade II listed Victoria Hotel and Shenanigans pub on Great George Street in Leeds, into modern, state of the art, luxury student accommodation. The proposed development will be operated by Urbanite, a Leeds based student accommodation expert, focused on high quality living environments for students. As such, this will ensure that the development not only provides a new offering to the student population in Leeds but also will guarantee the preservation of the historic site.
The upper floors of the buildings have been neglected for a considerable period of time and require significant intervention and restoration of historical features. The proposal aims to carry out some light demolition to the lower floors, reusing the new space to provide student residential accommodation with amenities. In addition, new life will be injected back into the Victoria Hotel which will re-open in Summer 2024 offering food and beverages by local brewhouse legends. The adjacent former Shenanigans public house will be available to operators in q4 2024.
